In the heart of Singapore, Maxwell Reserve transforms a century-old colonial landmark into an intimate world of art, history, Indian royalty, polo and contemporary luxury.
Singapore is a city where heritage and modernity constantly meet. At Maxwell Reserve, that relationship takes on a particularly theatrical form.
Set within Murray Terrace, a 100-year-old British Colonial landmark built in 1929 that once served as army barracks, the hotel has been meticulously restored and reimagined as a destination where history is not simply preserved, but experienced.
Opened in 2021 as part of Marriott International's Autograph Collection, Maxwell Reserve is the vision of entrepreneur Satinder Garcha and celebrated French designer Jacques Garcia. Together, they have created a hotel guided by three defining ideas:
These three words form the spirit of Maxwell Reserve, connecting the property's colonial past with the heritage and lineage of the Garcha and Bedi families, the traditions of polo and Sikh history, and a distinctly contemporary expression of luxury.
The heritage of Maxwell Reserve is shaped by the intertwined histories of the Garcha and Bedi families, bringing together traditions of polo, military service, Sikh heritage and family lineage.
The Garcha family's story is closely connected to Colonel Kuldeep Singh Garcha, a decorated Indian Army officer, former Captain of India's National Polo Team and recipient of the Arjuna Award. Equestrian motifs, antique polo mallets and carefully curated memorabilia celebrate this legacy and its connection to the world of polo and military service.
Alongside this is the Bedi family's Sikh heritage and lineage, adding another important dimension to the property's story. The family's history is connected to the Sikh tradition and its lineage associated with Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, providing deeper context to the heritage represented throughout Maxwell Reserve.
Together, these family histories are reflected in the hotel's collection, including an ancestral ceremonial Kirpan from the Bedi family, while the polo and military memorabilia associated with the Garcha family add another layer to the story. Together, they form a rich heritage narrative that connects family, tradition and history with the contemporary character of Maxwell Reserve.
Even the arrival experience carries a sense of ceremony. The Maxwell Doorman welcomes guests in a distinctive British-Indian Army-inspired ceremonial uniform, complete with white tailoring, gold detailing and medals — an introduction to the hotel's carefully choreographed world.
Maxwell Reserve's dining collection moves confidently from wellness-focused cuisine to European brasserie culture, prime steaks and progressive Indian gastronomy.
A destination for plant-based, gluten-free and GMO-free dining, Cultivate focuses on sustainability, farm-to-table freshness and high-vibration cuisine. Cold-pressed organic juices, organic shots, superfood earth bowls and dairy-free organic ice creams form part of its wellness-driven offering.
Defined by its striking pink onyx bar, Isabel combines European elegance with a relaxed social atmosphere. By day it offers tea and lunch; by evening it evolves into a lively brasserie and champagne bar, with dishes including Peruvian Avocado Butter on Toast, Norwegian Fjord Trout Tartare and Chargrilled New Zealand Octopus.
Inspired by the world of polo, this richly atmospheric steakhouse features oak-panelled walls, African ebony floors and saddle leather accents. The menu brings together Japanese Purebred Wagyu, USDA Prime Cuts and Argentinian Pampas Grass-Fed selections, accompanied by an extensive wine and whisky collection.
Meaning "to hunt" in Hindi, Shikar draws inspiration from royal hunting expeditions and the grand feasts of India. Under celebrity Chef Jolly, progressive Indian cuisine takes centre stage, with creations such as Lamb Shank Biryani, Purple Aubergine Ghee Roast and Venison Red Deer Tenderloin Seekh Kebab.
Maxwell Reserve is ideally positioned at 2 Cook Street, Murray Terrace, within easy reach of Singapore's business, cultural and lifestyle districts.
Maxwell and Tanjong Pagar MRT stations are just a short walk away, while Raffles Place, Marina Bay Financial Centre, City Hall and Suntec City are easily accessible. Chinatown, Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay, the National Gallery and Orchard Road are also within convenient reach.
Maxwell Reserve is not designed to be simply another luxury hotel in Singapore. It is a carefully assembled world where heritage becomes atmosphere, art becomes part of the stay, and every detail carries a sense of history.
From its colonial architecture and royal Indian references to its polo heritage, distinctive dining rooms and Jacques Garcia interiors, Maxwell Reserve offers something increasingly rare — a hotel with a personality of its own.
